Biography
Nikolai's great grandfather owned a farm, which got passed onto his grandfather, then his father, and which his father once expected to one day pass onto him. He was put to work on this farm almost as soon as he could walk and when his father wasn't ordering him about it was his mother instead, in the home. They didn't have much in the way of money, growing up in the very rural area and the times that they did, but they just about managed to scrape by. Nikolai never received much love from his parents, they raised him like it was their job rather than their pleasure. He was taught through a mix of homeschooling and taking the bus to the next settlement over, the only one in the area with a school, though through his work on the farm he learned a lot more practical skills than academic. This would have suited him just fine, if he'd wanted to stay.As soon as Nikolai could, he left. Though growing up surrounded by nature had its charm, he couldn't stand the idea of spending the rest of his life surrounded by those same four walls and that same handful of people in their village. So, he enlisted in the army, the furthest thing from isolation he could imagine. His parents were fine with this at first, but their issue came when he stayed, unwilling to come back and continue work on the farm.Nikolai was rather outspoken about his dislike for the way his country was run. He loved his country and hated to see its lost potential, its corruption - he wanted to see it thrive. While stationed at the Russian embassy in London, the MI6 caught wind of this dislike and made contact with him, which began his real career.He plays by his own rules, working with whoever he needs in order to do what he thinks is right for his country, whether that be MI6, CIA, SAS, FSB - anyone. He left the army after 10 years due to unproven accusations against his allegiance to his own country, however that didn't stop him from continuing his work, still having many contacts in all the right places.He now calls himself a simple weapons enthusiast, a fixer with connections wherever he needs them to be, fiercely loyal to those he calls his friends and always ready to provide anything they need. anything.

It is sort of terrifying being in a vehicle with him - though not because he's a bad driver. Instead, it's because he's a very good driver and he uses this as an excuse to pull off stupid and terrifying moves all the time. He's a bit of a maniac behind the wheel.

They don't understand his decisions and still believe they can convince him to come home, unafraid to argue with him when he still refuses. He does not want to cut them off and lose his only connections to home, but the path he's taken in life is only ever going to be met with disdain.
He is very good at card tricks. A pack of cards used to be all he'd have to amuse himself while on deployment in the middle of nowhere, so he decided to learn something in that time.
Nik picked up a wide range of skills in his childhood, many of which he keeps up today just in case they come in useful. He is a great mechanic, has some woodworking skills, knows how to sew, and is a very good cook, among more.
Nikolai has made many enemies through his work, some very dangerous ones, and as such it has turned him into a very paranoid person. He always has at least one weapon within reach, knows his quickest exit route, and does not trust easily at all. He has both betrayed people and been betrayed, and he refuses to let himself ever be caught unaware again.
Nikolai's sense of direction is amazing, he somehow always seems to know where he's going and how to get back to places he's left. He'd be excellent at GeoGuessr.
He is very good at deciphering people through reading body language and tone, good at telling when people are lying and even better at applying his knowledge of people on himself to get him to places he doesn't have the clearance to be.
